Large bodies of magnetite are present three to four miles southeast of Dammer Nissar, Chitral State. The magnetite is massive, occurring in lenses ranging from 20 to 425 feet in length and 5 to 75 feet in width. A total reserve of 3.7 million tons of magnetite ore has been calculated on the basis of dimensions measured on the surface and on estimated extensions of ore to depths averaging 150 feet below the outcrops of individual lenses. The grade of the ore in general is high; near the contacts of the ore bodies the iron content ranges from 45 to 55 per cent, whereas the main bodies contain 55 to 65 per cent. An alternate route of ore transport through Afghan territory is suggested
